From subtle to dramatic, light changes everything in a painting!
It's easy to get distracted by pretty colours. But is is the contrast between light and shadow that does all the real work, giving us a sense of shape, form, and depth.
Painting light is a skill that comes from keen observation. Over the 12 weeks we will learn to observe, depict, and change light in our paintings. We will break the process into individual, manageable steps, and build up our skills and confidence to combine multiple techniques by the end of the course.
Together we will learn to see better, paint better, and create a series of memorable paintings where light takes centre stage.
The course is suitable for painters of all levels, from complete beginners to confident artists. There will be time for live demonstration, painting practice, and discussion. The sessions are packed with useful information and are tailored to help improve confidence and technique.
You will need: watercolour paint, watercolour brushes, and 100% cotton watercolour paper. If you need to purchase supplies before starting the course please check art supplies page for recommendations.
We all start somewhere, so please do not worry if you haven't painted before. Our creative community has members of all skill levels. The group is friendly and supportive, we all help each other. This course is perfect for beginners as well as experienced painters looking to refresh and improve their art skills.

We will take a break on the 3rd and on the 31st of October.
